Hey everyone,
My highschool offers Art History Honors CCP as a possible fine art credit. I am planning on taking this for my fine art requirement as I am not musically inclined and am not good enough at art to succeed in a drawing, painting art class. However, as I have been looking at colleges I have noticed that some require a fine arts credit to apply to the program that I am interested in (nursing). I am wondering if since my high school considers Art History as a fine art credit, the colleges will do the same? (I only wonder this because when I think of a fine art, Art History doesn’t necessarily come to mind, and am worried they will not count Art History as a fine art).
It’s up to the college but probably will. My daughter’s high school considered ceramics as a performing art.
I can’t think of any college that would not consider it a fine art. Generally, if the HS counts it as a fine art, college admissions will too. California public colleges are probably the most picky and they consider it a fine art.
Regarding California public universities’ classification of high school courses, art history is almost always considered in the “visual & performing arts” category, with a few exceptions (all of the ones that I could find are on-line courses from Accelerate Education, which are considered “college-preparatory elective”).

Okay, thank you so much!! @skieurope @ucbalumnus @twoinanddone
@twoinanddone Ceramics- a performing art. That makes me think of the scene in Ghost at the ceramics wheel. Lol. Quite a performance!
