Does Barnard or Wellesley have a better creative writing program?

I know that at Barnard you have to apply to the creative writing program which could be risky for me. I heard that Barnard’s writing program is exceptional though. How is Wellesley’s?

This is something I’ve been wondering about too since I am choosing between the two… I was at W this weekend so I can tell you a bit of what I learned about their program.
Wellesley’s CW classes are no-application. They have classes on a few different genres/styles (short fiction, creative nonfiction, screenwriting, playwriting, poetry…) and I know are run in a workshop style. I was able to meet the professor who teaches several of the classes when I went for my visit, and she was really awesome. They have a few alums who are published, and I’ve heard the creative writing students have a nice sense of community together. Current students said on multiple occasions that English was a strong department at Wellesley.
Even that being said, part of me feels that Barnard is a little unmatched in a sense with the CW, especially since you have additional access to the CW classes offered at Columbia?
