Does "clinical research" count as clinical volunteer hours?

I will only have enough time for ONE clinical internship position, and I am really debating as to which one to pick. I am choosing between two that will be at the local medical school in my state. One of them says that it is "intended for pre-med students interested in gaining research experience", and the other one says "for highly disciplined pre-med students who plan to go into the field of clinical medicine".

I am looking into MSTP programs and obviously they require that I do clinical volunteering AS WELL AS laboratory research. I will already have ONE lab research position through my college, but I am not sure if I should get another one at the local med school? Or should I just go with the one that says "for students who plan to go into clinical medicine"? I would say that one is more "clinical volunteering", and the other one is more "clinical research".

What I am afraid of, is if I pick the "clinical research" position, it might not count as clinical volunteering, and then two years from now when I apply to MSTP programs they might think that I "don't have any clinical volunteer experience". So I don't know which one to pick.
Also, both of them include "patient contact" (interviewing patients).

My gut says no but not sure.

From what I’ve been told, all they want is clinical experience (basically patient contact in a clinical setting), so I’d say it doesn’t matter much which one you pick. Since you want to apply to MSTPs, I’d go with the clinical research.
