Students credit for visiting campus? I was planning on flying to the school to visit. I know that when you visit some schools they have you fill out the form that says you were there.

When I visited, the people working at admissions looked at me like I was nuts when I asked if they had something for me to fill out.

I had to fill out a card with my information so that they could put me on their mailing list, but I don't think Columbia really cares if you visit or not. I mean, there's a place on the application where you can check off all the things that you've done to learn more about Columbia (talking to admissions rep, visiting campus, overnight stays, etc), but that's not really a significant part of it. (And I doubt that they'd really check if you were there or not.)

They really just ask you so that they can see how effective their recruiting strategies are.

I don't think it carries any weight on your application.

You get the lesser of 0.05 GPA points and .01 SAT points for every mile you live from the campus.

That's a lot of GPA points if you live in California.

Judging from the number of international (mostly Asian) tour groups on campus lately, you'd think this was true...

lol...this system is flawed. How could you ever receive the GPA points?
