Hey guys, I’m already in college studying engineering. My little sister is freaking out since she got a 2 on her AP World exam (it’s actually kind of funny). I know that my home university considers APs as important in admissions. How important will this be in the admissions process, particularly at Cornell? Thank you!
You are not required to report AP scores, so I highly doubt they are considered. They are to be used for possible college credit and not intended for college admissions. Generally, a good grade correlates with a good score, but not always. Best of luck to her and stop teasing your little sis haha
So, first of all, you report your AP scores AFTER the admission to get college credits. Second, if you do put those on your resume , then, omit the one you don’t want to share. Remember though, when you send via college board, they send all - but all it is to get credit or not.
The Common App does have a place to voluntarily report AP scores, so I imagine they can be a factor in admissions. I’d tell your sister just to omit that score.
Who says Ivy adcoms won’t consider AP scores? This is entirely different from using them for class credit.
The Common App allows them to be entered, self reported. Adcoms at the most competitive colleges can want to see the performance.
OP, how they react to a 2 in WH can depend on her academic interests. If she’s stem, it’s much less critical than if she wants, say, history or some others. If she omits the score and is humanities, , they can wonder why it’s not shown.
Or if this was a 9th grade class, they may be more understanding.
