I have heard that some Ivies conduct interviews if they are choosing between two applicants who are about equal. If Cornell Engineering does this, then what would the interview be like? I'm not asking about Hotel Administration or Architecture.

I have never heard of Cornell doing anything like that. As far as I know, interviews are not offered for CoE.

I have never heard of any school holding an interview-off to add information to select applications. What is your source? Interviews do not hold that much weight, and schools just don’t put 17-year-old kids under that kind of single-event pressure. It does nothing to inform an objective decision.

It isn’t an interview, but a way of giving more info, but yes they do that, or so I’ve heard and it’s also on their website

Actually that was very vague of me, so they do not do what you think they do. They just want to provide the prospective applicant with more background about their school

@ItsJustSchool A friend told me about it. I was wondering because I would have really not enjoyed doing an interview xD.

Thanks all you guys!

If you are offered an Interview, it would be a good idea to do it. At some schools the purpose is to inform applicants about the school and you are not really judged on your answers, but it can hurt to decline the interview because they see that as a lack of interest.
