does creating a sunet id mean you are enrolling?

i want to log in to the admit website but i have to create a sunet id now. i cant completely decide if im going to stanford until my parents see the finaid stuff tho. is it ok if i get my id thing now?

k the sunet website says base services are now available but full services become available once you enroll so im guessing yes.

I signed up and I'm not resolved on going.
Has anyone "axessed" their financial aid awards yet? It says you can view it on the axess, but I can't seem to.

I tried looking at my axess but I couldn't find the financial stuff yet, so I assume it's not yet up.

Oh, I made an id, but I didn't think that meant I was enrolling O_o

Yeah I'm sure they would be more explicit with that strong of an implication. Besides, they can't afford that many students as they can't over enroll.

No; making your SUNETID does not mean your going. In fact, I still have my same ID from when I went to Stanford Summer High School my junior year. The statement of intent to register is the only legally binding document that will make you attend.

I think the financial aid is up. Accessed mine. Looks good.

You enroll when you pay the $160 "document fee," I think is what it's called.

Yeah, I was able to view financial aid as well. Not so good, but the system is up.

where do you find the info about your financial aid? a link or directions would be much appreciated :)

Go to http://axess.stanford.com, (create a SunetID if you haven't), log in, click "View Financial Aid", and then either jump for joy or let your heart sink.

My page says "Select Aid Year to View" but there is nothing to click on. Anyone have any suggestions?

just a correction on that link provided by jen98, it's "edu" at the end, not "com" - but thanks for the help... my heart sunk.

especially at seeing that "Cost of Attendance" was 52,585.00 and "Expected Family Contribution" ended up being 53,393.00. um, okay, great, because I really have that much money that I'm swimming around in (sarcasm + a little bit of bitterness).

I think I like the sound of 10% of income so much better... let's go, hy(p).

Does anyone else see something about STARS? When I log in, that's all I see--stuff about STARS and training and STAP and reference materials... Is this right? Or has there been some error and this is someone else's account?

kyledavid,

that's what I'm getting, too. how/where do we find the financial aid??

I got there by going through the "Home" tab on the upper left hand corner and then "view award letter" or something on the left column.

1st..sunnetid doesn't commit you at all. It'll get taken away if you don't enroll.
2nd...I'm not sure if the finaid letter you're looking at is official or not. Wait for the paper mail, it'll be there with the decision. You might be just looking at a computer generated number atm.

My financial aid letter opened as a pdf with my name on it. I surmise that this will be the letter that they will send.

yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Btw, sunet id's are not= to enrolling at Stanford. It merely allows you to access the admitted students site http://admit.stanford.edu and thereby sign-up for AW
