Does Dartmouth Send Likely Letters?

I got a likely letter today dated March 5th, so it looks like this is the second wave.

Congrats OhSoWhat…what area/town/state? Is it like a regular letter/envelope?

Thanks! I’m from Southern NH, and it came in a regular sized envelope.

Hmmm. Maybe mine will come tomorrow :).

Ha doubt it. I’m from NJ, so it probably would have come today.

i got my today too! im from socal, so i guess everybody got it at the same time.

Do international students receive likely letters?

My letter was also dated the 5th.

Yeah, does anyone know whether internationals should be hoping for an LL from Dartmouth?
Any internationals received an LL?

babo/polyglot: I do not believe Dartmouth sends out likely letters for international students. Partially, because you may very well receive your acceptance online before an ll ever made its way through the mail system to you.

I searched the forums, I think a guy from new zealand got something in mid march. I’m an international student. Obviously I haven’t received one from Dartmouth, but I got one from Williams.

i got one dated march 5th also.
do we know about what % of applicants get them? seems like a lot of people on here…

^^^I seem to recall seeing somewhere it was surprisingly high; can’t recall number but in the 10% to 25% range.

The Dartmouth acceptance rate is about 13% percent, so I doubt that they would tell 25% of applicants that they will be getting in. Even 10% of applicants seems crazy. It sure doesn’t leave very much hope of being in that 3% if you haven’t gotten one yet : /

No, no. Not 25% or 10% of applicants. It’s around 25 or 10% of accepted applicants.

^ Dartmouth sends likely letters like crazy. Around 25-50% of accepted applicants get them… So anywhere from 500-1000 LL from 2000 admits.

it is more around 400 LLs each year.

Whatever the exact number is, what matters is that most (>50%) accepted students do not get likely letters. So be happy if you got one, and don’t lose hope if you didn’t!

stridegum, how are you getting these numbers?

I am assuming he guesstimated

Probably from articles posted by other colleges, like this one:
