Does everyone have their popcorn ready for Harry & Meghan?

I’ll just say this.

Meghan’s father says that he kept trying to contact Meghan and she never answered. And then changed her phone number without telling him.

The sister I have no use for.

The father made mistakes that’s for sure. But we don’t have his side of the the story. He cooperated with a book and his side is very different than Meghan’s side. Also he’s the one who paid for her private high school and Northwestern. He’s living on a small pension in Mexico because it’s cheaper. And did so while she was a big time actress in Canada. Not Doria, but the father paid. According to him.

I think when a couple alienates both sides of the family, I might look at that side eye.

Allegedly. According to him.

AFAIK, he never released the proof that he did. Was his contribution higher than Doria’s or Meghan’s? Most probably based on his salary. Was his contribution the full CoA? Probably not. Nor do we know (nor should we) the details of her FA package.

But she does allude to having received FA in her lawsuit against The Sun.

All I know after all this is that I still don’t know or understand what the whole story really is. Just a sad thing overall to me that they just can’t seem to try to work this out as a family. As any family might try to do, without all the cameras.

Like I said, I find this whole thing a rohrschach test. You call her a big-time actress; others say she’s a B-lister. :woman_shrugging:t4:

You said that we don’t have his side of the story but then also that he cooperated with a book and that his side is very different than Meghan’s. So it sounds like we did get his side, though I never read the book personally. But I take it his side is out there based on there having been a book?

When a story has two really different sides I subscribe to the theory that there are three sides to every story – in this case, her side and his side and then the truth, which is likely somewhere in between.

I agree.

I was pointing out that her fathers side wasn’t in their documentary. Meghan’s mother has a part but not the father.

The father has told his side. Meghan told hers.

The truth is who knows what.

And I’ve called her a big time actress and a b list one. :joy: :woman_shrugging:

Oh, I see. Well, this is Meghan’s show so she gets to include who and what she wants. Maybe her dad can get someone to buy his story as a rebuttal to this.

And lol about calling her both things. I swear I didn’t go back and look that up! I wouldn’t have called her B-list, but I had no idea who she was until she started dating him. But just because I don’t know who she is doesn’t mean she isn’t famous in some circles. I did remember her from Deal or No Deal once I learned she was on that! As you can see, I have some really high-brow tastes in TV.

B-lister is being generous. The same is true for the entire cast through season 7. She was part of a moderately successful show, which is not a mean feat, but that was really her only substantial role

There are a few articles from the British side wondering if H & M will be going to the coronation. HAHAHAHA. I guess ‘advisers’ are telling the King to make a statement that they will not be invited, that the information in the doc is not true, etc. Charles just wants to stay quiet and let things ride.

I’m not a big Charles fan, but I think he’s right to stay quiet and ‘wish them well.’ I don’t think there is a way to repair any of this right now.

At the end of the day though, he has his side and she has hers - we’ll never have the full story because relationships are personal and usually way too complex to boil down to good and bad.
Who are we to judge? Maybe the dad has legitimate reasons to him for his side of the estrangement- maybe she has equally legitimate feelings. Both things can be true at the same time. All she did is tell her version of her truth. As he apparently did for his book.

George, Charlotte and Louis do not attend boarding school. William and Kate have said they will evaluate that option as the years go by, but none of the children will attend boarding school if they do not wish to board.

And William and Harry didn’t go to boarding school when they were very young. I think they were 12 years old or so.

If my “nowhere near first hand knowledge” is correct, that was insisted on by their mother, who hoped for a more hands-on upbringing than their father experienced. I think it says a lot that William and Kate seem to have that same outlook.

They were 8. Same as Charles.

See above. Diana likely chose which boarding school, but I doubt Charles opposed the plan for them to do their secondary education at Eton, instead of Gordonstoun.

But yes, George, who is now 8, attends school as a day student, as does Charlotte

Agreed! (Based on my extensive research which involved nothing more than watching the Crown)

The Queen Mother did not want Charles to go to Gordonstoun. She wanted him to go to Eton. However, the Queen had agreed to let Phillip choose the children’s school. Prince Phillip was at Gordonstoun, so he wanted Charles to go. It was not the best of situations for Charles.

The Crown explained the Charles’s boarding school experience well. I have no idea how truthful it was but it was very entertaining.

OK, I watched the second set of episodes. Anyone else?

She couldn’t figure out a way to get a letter to her father? She could have paid someone to hand deliver

I just watched the fourth episode. I really do think she almost went under.. I don’t think that was an act.

While trying to find out whether today’s drop would be at the same time, I came across this, which sums up my feelings perfectly. I agree with both people. Is some of this cringy and navel-gazing and presented in the best possible light by them? Absolutely. Do I think the media, social and otherwise, made her and his mom’s life a nightmare? Also absolutely true. Do I think some of the stuff directed at Meghan was especially heinous and racial? Yep.

But to today’s drop … A little dishier than the first so that will make a lot of people happy. I do think it did a great job in furthering the narrative and putting pieces together. I always wondered how they ended up at Tyler Perry’s place. And I forgot that she won her case against the British media and the appeal, and I think that says a lot.
