Does Georgetown ever seems to show any Anti-Semitism?

^There's the question!

Many Catholics and Catholic organizations seem to possess anti-Semitism (hostility towards the Jews).

Does Georgetown ever seem to be Anti-Semitic or unfavorable of the Jewish stance in the Middle East?

I would think not.

^The reason I ask is that I might talk about my possible Jewish ancestry in my SFS essay. I am not Jewish now (I am a Baptist Christian, as far as denominations go), and i don't talk about my Jewish ancestry in my essay except for the first few lines of the first paragraph.

I hope not, seeing as I'm Jewish.

No.

The Office of Mission and Ministry has compiled a list of the values (with definitions) to help faculty, staff and students understand the distinctive nature of the educational community. It is the university’s hope that people embrace the community’s various faith traditions and appropriate the Jesuit (Catholic order of priests) values in their own distinct ways.

With regard to Israeli policy in the Middle East, don't confuse being against Israeli Policy with anti-semitism. In fact, in your international affairs class you may debate both sides of the Israeli policy issue with students from around the world all with different points of view (some may even be from Gaza, Beirut, West Bank, and Israel). As you are aware Georgetown has a very strong international affairs program and it would be intellectually dishonest not to debate Israeli policy. Such debates are part of the Georgetown experience why Georgetown, especially SFS, is special.

My son is Jewish and he was accepted to Georgetown two years ago. The alum who did his interview was Jewish and as soon as he was accepted he received a phone call from a Jewish student/member of Hillel welcoming him to Georgetown. Although son did not end up going to Georgetown, we were all very impressed and thankful for the warm welcome.

1789: Thank you for your input.

I think you misunderstood me however. I was not trying to imply that being against Israeli policy was anti-Semitism. However, anti-Semitism will cause a lack of support for Israeli policy. That was all I was trying to say.

Again, thanks for the input!

Georgetown has a significant Jewish population so I'm pretty sure the admissions staff is not anti-semitic.

And after the great emphasis Pope John Paull II put on apologizing to the Jewish people for the crimes the Catholic Church commited against them in the past, a modern trend of Catholic organizations is to respect the Jewish population.

I'm Jewish and I indicated it on my app. I got in. I don't think discussing Jewish ancestry will harm you in any way.

I removed all discussion of Judaism (except my fluency in Hebrew) from my app because I was worried about it. But, b'smom, I actually feel better knowing your son's interviewer was Jewish and he got a call from the GT Hillel! =D

IMO the only reason this should or would be an issue is if Georgetown is trying to "round out their class" and feels that demographically and ethnically there seems to be an overabundance of one type of student......that is assuming they really care.....some schools are aggressively trying to "balance" out their classes, others are not as concerned.....I don't think Georgetown really cares so you should be fine either way.....
