Does going to a university abroad help or hurt one's chances getting into medical school?

Hi! I am a current junior in high school and I have been looking into colleges. I just recently had the idea of attending a university in Europe. Some countries have free school there and I would not have to pay for studying abroad, which I am planning to do. This would be a money saver and a wonderful experience. I was just wondering if it would hurt my chances of being accepted into medical school back home in America? Would they look down on me for this? Or would it help me stand out from the others? Or any other thoughts on this? Thank you so much for your time.

If you attend university abroad, you need to spend one (often, two) years in a US college taking premed pre-reqs and establish a US GPA.
You could try and spend a year abroad after high school, through afs, yfu, nacel, wep… It’s valued by colleges, gives you a chance of living abroad and deciding if it’s for you, and then you can either apply to local colleges or apply to us colleges (or apply senior year and defer to go abroad).
