I know that colleges will obviously look at both when considering you for scholarships, but what is looked at the most?
Maybe ACT more than GPA. What are yours?
Test scores are what put students “in the running” for merit… high GPA backs it up.
There’s a huge pool of students with high GPAs due to grade inflation and weak schools.
There is a smaller pool of students with high test scores.
There is an even smaller pool of students with both high test scores AND GPA. Those are the ones who usually get the merit.
Test scores are a level playing field. Much easier to compare students on that basis. So, you need those scores first. Then GPA comes into play; most of what we saw in our searches, as least with automatic aid, was a combination. ACT X with a 3.4 was one amount. Same ACT with a 3.9 was more.
I assume you are talking about scholarships from schools themselves, not private scholarships?
Imo both college and outside awarding processes both look at test scores more.
