Thanks to everyone for reading this! I'm a senior who's currently interested in Davidson. I am aware of the grade deflation rumor at Davidson, and I was curious as to whether this was prevalent in all areas or was more pronounced in the pure sciences (biology, chemistry,etc.). I am interested in studying economics, so if anyone has any specific knowledge of that major at Davidson that would be awesome too!

To be honest, I kind of disagree with the idea of grade deflation. Instead, I’d say Davidson just lacks grade deflation. I have only had professors who graded fairly, though toughly. The work load is tough but it is not unbearable. While I haven’t personally attended any schools other than Davidson, based on talking to friends at other schools, I would say our work load is probably heavier than than at other schools. Grades do vary across departments although I would not say that there is necessarily an “easiest” department. The economics department does give the lowest grades, followed by the physics department, with an average grade around a 2.6.
