I'm currently planning my senior schedule right now and considering taking a second year of Graphic Design as one of my two electives. Does this field at least help prepare me for Civil Engineering in college?

not at all, i am a senior in civil engineering.

@scofield1990, well, sociology it is then =\ thanks for the input though!

Only peripherally. My brother is a Civ E and does a lot of sales meetings and technical presentations where professional looking graphics might be helpful. Big firms usually have marketing people to handle this, though.

So all of the CAD and other drafting classes don’t really correlate with Graphic Design?

As a student, you can download Autodesk products for free. Check out the difference - not much overlap with Graphic Design other than the fact they are both on the computer.

Dang, Sociology it is then, thanks Magnetron! Since this is still here, what science and math subjects are heavily covered in civil engineering? Calculus and Physics right?

Those are good. As for math, you will do some differential equations and linear algebra and statistics. As for science, you will do some chem too I believe.
