Does Harvard call or text accepted students?

Hi, the Harvard Early Decisions are coming up. But to be honest, I was thinking about putting off reading the letter/email for a few days or weeks to avoid the stress. So I was wondering whether Harvard also calls or texts accepted students or do they just send a letter?

Harvard does not call or text applicants, so if you ignore the email/letter you’ll never find out.

FWIW: To avoid the stress, remember that 82% to 84% of SCEA applicants are deferred. So, regardless of your stats, you should prepare for a deferral. And if you get an acceptance letter – it will be a happy, but unexpected occurrence. Best of luck to you whatever you choose to do!

Harvard posts this info on the portal, sends an email, and (for accepted students) a snail mail letter. I think that’s adequate communication, don’t you?

Thanks a lot!! Just a quick follow-up: after being deferred, should I send a letter of intent or revised essay right away, not at all, or can I wait until the Regular Decision deadline (I’m very busy with my applications for other colleges right now)?

If deferred, you will get instructions on how and when to add an update if you decide to do so.

That is, if you have something worthy enough to merit an update. Don’t just throw more junk at them.

For instance, a revised essay will be very unwelcome. Don’t do that.

I completely support waiting until you get home so that you can check your portal in private, but there is no way that waiting “weeks” to read the decision letter is a good idea. You need to know what it says so that you can make appropriate decisions about other college applications before the January regular decision deadlines.

Yeah maybe you’re right. I just figured it wouldn’t really matter because I know already what colleges I’ll apply to
