Does harvard care about "intangibles"

Do they care about your personality and ec's more than high grades? Do they care about the type of ec's you have or the quantity? Also does minority issues and status play any roles?
Just curious for answers...

nope unfortunately. harvard is 100% academics.

...

They care about personality and ecs, but grades are the first thing considered. You're going to college, and you're going to be getting graded, so yeah, it's kind of important.

Minority status is a good thing.

87% of people who apply have the grades and scores to be admitted. If your academics are on par, your personality is very important. This comes through in your interview, your essay, your teachers' recommendations, extracurricular activities, jobs, other ways you spend your time, etc. If your life experience, as a minority, low income, immigrant, etc, has influenced your life, your academics, your ecs, etc, it makes a great essay topic since adcoms want to learn about the whole you, not just your GPA. Remember, you need to distinguish yourself from the other 87% of people with good academics.

EAS, where did you get that number?

from the director of admissions, Dr. Marlyn McGrath Lewis
