Hi, I'm hoping to apply to Stanford in the Fall of 2007. I was wondering if the High School Summer College looks good on the application when I apply. Will this program give me a distinct advantage?

as big an advantage as if you had taken a simmer summer program anywhere else.

it depends on how rigorous and selective the program is and if the prof at that program will write you a good rec.

I went to SSC last year and I honestly don't think it makes that big of a difference. I don't know of too many people that got in from the program...maybe 5 or 6, tops.

And I highly doubt anyone got a professor from the summer program to write a rec letter for them. A college professor that knows you for 8 weeks is not as good as a teacher that you've had for two years. The prestige factor doesn't help. It's all about how well they know you.

Ameliesque, did you get accepted by Stanford though?

I dunno, son's Eros & Religion prof offered to write one for him, I think. He has stayed in contact with his Psych teachers, too.
