Hey, I was just accepted into Wake Forest but I am intimidated by the ‘work forest’ reputation. I’m currently doing the full IB Diploma Program and was wondering if other Wake students who have done this program found that this helped with their academic transition. I was also wondering if other IB kids felt like they were missing out on information in some of their freshman courses because they didn’t take any AP classes.
I took all of four AP classes in high school and I’m pulling a 3.5 with some difficult classes. I think the “Work Forest” reputation is undeserved. My theory is that the admissions process at Wake Forest is so holistic (i.e., they care about supplements and interviews more than any other college I’m aware of) that they end up taking some students with really interesting and unique personalities but also a few students who are simply unqualified to be there, and those are the folks who complain about it being too difficult. I expected things to be much more difficult than they turned out to be. I’m sure your preparation in IB is just fine.
