Does Improvement matter

Hi im trying to get into

NYU
UPENN(i know its a reach)
C. FLORIDA U

or do u know any other good colleges with my major: Actuarial Science

My Stats:

I entered a rapid school and the work load hit me off guard and i fell behind
i ended up with a 2.8 freshman year but i caught up and this year. i have a 4.0, im taking two advanced classes(geometry, algebra 2*), have an almost above 100 average, right now its 98 but i think its going up. and test very well on standardized test and am predicting a 1400-1500 on my SAT's
will they yake in mind my improvement? or will good colleges turn me down based on my freshman scores?

Im in choir 9th and 10th grade and am planning to continue for 11th and 12th
Im in the student councel as my classes student-faculty cooperation representative. This is a class of 650 students!

lets pretend i get a 4.0 junior and senior year and keep up my above 100 average and stay in student council(actually planning on running for student-faculty cooperation president of the school)
and lets pretend i get a 1400-1450 on my SAT's
what are my chances to those schools and are there any better schools to apply to

Are you saying your only taking 2 honors courses? Take more Honors and LOTS MORE AP and you should be fine

Yes, of course improvement matters. Colleges stress that they like to see an upward trend in grades throughout high school, so you'll be fine if you keep working hard the next few years.

What are those projected SAT scores based on? Have you taken practice tests, or are you just kinda plucking a number out of thin air?

my goodness..nice improvement. 2.8 to 4.0. major improvement. EXcellent. just get AP's and honors. Then you should be looking into top schools.

Many schools do not count freshman yr, such as UC's, Stanford, Princeton, Michigan and others. Even for the ones that do, it is not a big deal. If you keep your A's this whole time you will have a chance at wherever you apply to.

Im taking 2 this year and 1 next year because i didnt qualify for alot b/c of my grades freshman year but senior year i think ill have 2-4 AP courses depending how good i do on the tests

i got a 136 on the PSAT's and my teachers said u should do better on the SAT's

do advanced courses get weighted before they use them for ur grade point average
ex: if i get an 88 on an AP course. Is that counted as an A, or a 4.

It all depends on your school. You'd be better off asking your teachers, counselors, or peers than asking us CCers.

Most schools calculate both a weighted and unweighted GPA though.

just hack into your school's website and change your grade...sheez...
