Can you please share tips on how you got a 36? I have an ACT score of 33, but I’m finding it impossible to bump it to a 34+. How can I improve?
Also, how do you approach the reading section? Do you read the questions first and then skim over the passages? The reason I got a 33 was because my reading score was a 27 oops
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
@Helloooooooooo It’s better to ask a new question than to hijack a thread.
If OP is aiming high, it’s less about composite and more about sub scores. And the rest of what you present will be the make or break.
So unless there was a problem with one or more subs, that’s why it can look mis-focused. It’s a lot of effort just for a 36 over a 35. It’s nice, but no special tip.
@PetEngineer While I respect the point that you are trying to make, the analogy you are making is false. The difference between a 35 and a 36 on the ACT does not correspond to a 93% vs 100%. In percentile terms, both 35 and 36 composite fall in the top 99%; in fact 33+ is considered 99%. A 93% on the ACT is about a 29 composite.

That said, I could see a case for trying again if one got a 33 and thought a 36 was possible. For a one point increase, I’d not bother.
For the OP, what’s done is done. If nothing else, it will show that your result wasn’t a fluke. Congrats on your 36!
