Did you put off-campus living with parents? In my experience, there isn’t that much difference between off-campus and on campus otherwise. Suggest you contact your FA office for an explanation.

Colleges can have different costs of attendance for living on vs off campus. Many times, colleges assume that living off campus is cheaper.

Call your financial aid office and get the COA figure they use for off campus, on campus and commuter. It varies among schools as to how these number vary Some schools give a very generous commuter allowance, some done. Some have a large differntial between off and on campus housing, and in that group for some schools, the COA for on is higher than off and vice versa.

But if you are not living on campus, you are not permitted to get the on campus COA. That is for those truly living on campus. Your school is likely to have that information. It’s not like you can choose the COA you want. You get the one that fits your situation.
