Does it matter what research experience I have?

I want to apply for PhD in pharmacology next year. Right now I am working in bio materials lab as research volunteer. I am wired because I do not have experience close to what I am applying for. Also, by the time I am applying I will only have about 8 month of working. What do you think? should I be wired!!

8 months for a PhD isn’t really long enough; most programs like to see 2+ years of experience. However, this really depends on how competitive your PhD program is, and your field.

But I think biomaterials is close enough to pharmacology that that should count.

Thanks juillet,
Does any one know how competitive phd in pharmacology or pharmaceutical science programs are?! Please give me your opinion!!
