Hey, I was just wondering if it matters what school you get your accounting degree from?

Will i get paid more if i get it from one school as opposed to another?
Is it easier to get a high paying job with a degree from one school to another?

For accounting you can get a job even if you went to a tier three or four college, unlike finance or consulting. In that respect, it doesn’t matter where you get your accounting degree from.

For public accounting, salaries won’t change based on school (they will vary based on region though). However, I think location and reputation do influence the # of firms that recruit at different campuses to some extent.

For example, a top school in the city will have more opportunities than an average school in the boonies.

I’ve been told by many in the accounting field that accounting is taught all the same everywhere. It’s like math in the respect that there are lots of rules to learn, and like law. Every accounting major will learn all the same thing, but the more reputable schools will just have better recruiting opportunities.

As long as the school is accredited, I’m told it doesn’t matter.

does anyone have a list of all the schools in the tiers?

like best to worst?
