ive been ambivalent about applying ED at jhu, one second i think its the best idea in the world and im 100% sure and the next second i figure i'll just go RD. i know ppl say you shouldnt apply ED unless youre absolutely sure you want to go there, but im scared applying ED or RD could make the difference between whether or not i get accepted.

i know jhu is amazing in biomedical engineering and pre-med stuff, which is what draws me to it, but i still want to feel relatively safe and be able to do fun things when im not studying. ive heard various things about the campus and baltimore -

"it sucks. dont come here."
"people here always seem dead and have no spirit."
"the thing i like most about johns hopkins is that i'll be leaving soon."

and ive also heard its really not so bad, but ive yet to hear anyone say its actually fun. the other 2 schools im considering for biomedical engineering are duke and ucsd, both top schools but still not as good as john hopkins. however, i've heard a LOT better things about durham and san diego than i have about baltimore. i know the best idea would just be to visit, but i dont think i have any time to.

basically, is jhu/baltimore really as bad as they say it is, or are they exaggerating? do you guys think i should go ED or just stay with RD? thanks for any help
