why hopkins ED

why is this the school for you? alot of work, grades average B-, you have to seek out having fun, baltimoe is not dc or nyc or boston, it is not ivy league per se, food is marginal, no big time sports, profs are more into research than teaching, jhu is not in the safest area, the dorms are marginal...

why hopkins ED? what is at the core of your decision?

1 Ranking for BME

LOVED the campus
pretty small too

AHHHHH 10 more days of hell !!!!!!!!!!!

I applied ED last year. JHU hasn't changed much.

A good deal of work, but atleast it is fulfilling.

Even with a B- average JHU sends one of the highest percentages of students to med and grad schools.

"Fun" isn't hidden away in some sealed black box. Sometimes you have to find it, but at least it's easy to find around here. Party flyers are everywhere.

Baltimore isn't up to par with those cities, but has its own attractions. Around the campus is ghetto, but take the free shuttle to towson for a better area. And not every university is located in dc, nyc or boston. So it makes no sense to put down JHU because it isn't.

I'll give you the food point. Most days it seems like toilet paper is probably more edible than the crap they give us in the cafeterias. Survive by getting the plan with the fewest blocks/most points. Go to the higher quality food areas. Join clubs with potlucks and BBQs and you'll be fine.

Division I Lacrosse...alright Lacrosse isn't a big sport everywhere. But during the season it is fun to watch. A Div I Football or Basketball(!) team would have been nicer. We have ping-pong too.

Contrary to popular belief, professors are not more concerned with research than with students. They are still professors, and most are famous enough to drop teaching and go totally into research whenever they want.

The area around JHU isn't the safest, but you shouldn't be waking alone 2 hours after midnight anywhere. As long as you stay in groups you will be fine.

Depends on what dorms. None of them are terrible. Even the AMRs are better than most of the dorms in some state universities. If living conditions are a concern, live in Wolman/McCoy.

Why did I chose to go Hopkins ED?

I probably wouldn't have gotten in RD (both JHU and BME). BME is #1 (and always will be!). I know I'll be getting a quality education here too.

wow. claps
