Does it sound impossible??? (Med school)

Hey guys, do you think it will be easy for a person to be an athlete in one of the Top 100 universities and study in a Pre-Med program? Because it's hard to be one of the best and prepare for MCAT, especially the last 2 yrs before applying for Med School.

It has been done before.

Yes, I have two friends who were athletes at Nebraska (#97), one on the football team and one on the track team, and they both will start medical school in the fall. I know several other football players and a couple of volleyball players (Nebraska volleyball is one of the elite programs in the country), who are also pre-med and have very good stats.

Many schools, particularly the DivI schools will have a lot of academic support programs to help student athletes.

What about the Ivy schools?

There is a kid in my med school class who was the kicker/punter for Harvard. In the end though, it's probably tougher to do athletics at a big time University like Nebraska b/c the athletic workload is much, much higher.

absolutely. i know of one person, who was an athlete on a #1 ranked D-1 high profile team, who was premed, and graduated with a 4.0gpa.

Craig Krenzel, the quarterback of the Ohio State football team that won the national championship, was a molecular biology major with a >3.0 GPA, and if he had not been drafted, he would've been going to med school.
