Does Kenyon "stack" need-based aid and merit awards?

Does Kenyon stacks need-based and merit awards? For example, if the Net Price Calculator tells us the net price would be $30K, and our child gets awarded a $10K Honor Scholarship, would our net price drop to $20K or stay at $30K?

OP this is a question I have also. If anyone has insight please respond!

My DS received a need based “Kenyon Grant”. When he was subsequently awarded a merit scholarship, his revised award switched the exact dollar amount of the merit award to a different line item and reduced the Kenyon Grant by that amount. Our out of pocket cost was not altered. Hope this helps!

Thanks! Not the answer I wnted to hear :frowning: but it does answer the question

My daughter’s combination of merit and need-based awards from Kenyon involved some stacking, because our out-of-pocket would have been $15,000 less than our EFC at meets-full-need schools like Carleton and Cornell. It was stunningly generous. In addition to being a high-stats kid, she is a URM for them (Asians are at Kenyon, as at most LACs, even those in the northeast) and a math/science kid. I read somewhere here on CC that where Kenyon is known for literature and humanities, they are looking to attract more STEM kids. D will be going elsewhere (she preferred a larger school), but we were blown away by the opportunity Kenyon offered. We had no hint of that from the NPC; from that we thought we’d be paying the same as at Carleton, Cornell and others.

I am a first year student at Kenyon and did receive a merit scholarship. My family received about 30,000 in need and I received a 25,000 merit scholarship on top. This reduced my cost to around 7,000 which was further reduced by outside scholarships (Kenyon allowed this to reduce our portion and these awards did not take it away from the package, also unusual). This was cheaper than my local community college, and is reason I chose Kenyon.
