Does lacking usage of high/SAT vocabulary on your essay affect your score

I'm just wondering if lacking the usage of high/SAT vocabulary on your essay affects your score?? Is it better if you use higher, more sat-type vocabulary? For example, using words like "reverance" as opposed to "feelings of respect", "sanguine" as opposed to just "hopeful", or "gregarious" as opposed to just "outgoing". Is it possible to get like a 9-10 without using "high SAT" type vocabulary at all??

Use some, I know I will.

Definitely use some, but don’t make it the point of your essay. Sentence structure is more important.

Use where appropriate. Don’t force it, make it sound natural.
