I want to double major in a lanuage and in economics, so I'm a little curious.

i'm a sophomore at midd, and i have some friends that study econ. it seems to be quite a strong department from what i hear. i know some of the professors wrote their textbooks. if you are interested in environmental economics we have an amazing professor for that specifically.

i'm an econ major, and i can say that the department is pretty solid. of course, there are some professors you should avoid, but most of the professors are really good. many seniors are hired at the wall street or other financial institutions every year, and the relationship between alumni in these places and current students is really strong. midd is also a feeder for many prestigious MBA programs, so i'd say definitely go for a major in economics.

I plan to joint major in Chinese and Econ (or perhaps int'l studies with a focus in those), and though I've only taken intro courses in both, they've all been amazing. Midd's language rep says enough, (but still... i love my zhongwen laoshi). My teacher was only teaching an intro level course and it was so interesting. you could tell he was incredibly intelligent and knew the subject inside out. and although i didn't have the teacher that wrote the textbook, i used the textbook and i really liked it. it was informative, simple, and entertaining (for a textbook).

basically, i just want to let you know that my impression of the department was good enough to make an indecisive person like myself choose a major before the deadline.

and i'm sorry i'm not sounding intelligent in this post. I'm in China right now and it's pretty much bedtime. rest assured that Midd is an incredibly well-rounded school (the epitome of liberal arts) and there are very few weak areas. i have never heard economics to be considered one of them.
