Anyone have a good handle on the relative strengths of the Economics departments and how much students enjoy being Econ majors at Swarthmore vs. Middlebury? What are the professors like at each school?

I'm not familiar with Economics at Middlebury. Economics at Swarthmore is one of the strongest academic departments at one of the strongest academic schools in the country.

Middlebury and Swarthmore are very, very different. Almost night and day different within the context of liberal arts colleges -- location, campus culture, size, per student endowment, diversity, athletics, social scene, post-grad career paths, and so forth. I would recommend focusing on big picture stuff before getting too caught up in the minutia of bread and butter departments like Economics.

Thanks. I got the impression that Midd has pretty strong Econ as well. A large number of courses, for example and some great profs. I'd be interested in learning how Econ majors view their experiences at each school.

Swarthmore, hands down.
