Does MIT not look at ACT science?

I was looking at admissions statistics and MIT did not list any information about ACT science and its relation to admissions rate. This has me confused being that they are a science-based institute.

I personally got a 31 subscore on the science (34 math) and a composite of 33. As someone wanting to go into computer science this really stresses me out because while my composite is at or over most colleges average accepted, the science score is lower. As someone going into science I am supposed to be really good at it.

I have always felt that ACT science has very little to do with actual preparation for science. It has nothing to do with applying factual knowledge, or analyzing complex things. To me it just feels like another breed of a reading tests, while occasionally some really easy facts are asked most of the times you just have to pull facts out. To colleges agree with this assessment?

I am not good at reading quickly and understanding well, plus I usually I loose some time because I find a topic so interesting that I just have to read it all before I never see the test again.

It’s not just Science; it’s Reading too. MIT does not say anything about discrediting Science or Reading scores. I assume that colleges focus on Writing and Math scores since those tend to most accurately portray a student’s academic performance. The Reading and Science Sections are not as effective in measuring student performance as Writing and Math, but remember that colleges would still consider your scores in these respective areas. They affect your Composite scores just as much as Math and Writing.

Personally, I wouldn’t worry about those scores, but if you feel comfortable taking it again, then go ahead. This is especially the case if you are a Sophomore or Junior and have extra time to study.
