Does Money Matter? If parents rich, does it help?

<p>The top preps attempt to populate the incoming class the same way as the Ivies. A huge difference, however, is the amount of resources they put in to tutor admits who are not as well-prepared due to coming from inner-city schools. They have huge endowments that allow for support, in both financial aid and tutoring, for the rich, poor, and middle class.</p>

<p>If you're applying to a non-need blind school, and don't need FA, it certainly increases your chances of admission, but doesn't guarantee it.</p>

<p>btw--I hope the Choate donor stops giving. If my kid had the grades, the stats, was a legacy, plus I'd been a consistent and generous donor, I'd be pretty steamed at a rejection!</p>

<p>We went to Choate to interview, and sat in the various waiting rooms with 30 others interviewees waiting their turn and they forgot about us! Not a great first impression, although the interviewer was pleasant enough.</p>
