Im planning on majoring in math/science, and unweighted, I have about a 3.5; weighted, 4.1.
My school doesnt rank and theres a significant upward trend, (3.5W 10th grade, 4.3W 11th grade) which I know colleges like to see, but Im worried that the two Cs I got 10th grade will be all they see.
My ACT composite is 33, with a 35 in Science, and my US SATII is 730. Based on practice tests, Im thinking Ill get 750+ on MathIIC.
Do I still have a chance at Pomona, Swarthmore, etc.?

You certainly still have a chance. At LACs in particular, a more holistic approach is applied. Your scores look good, so if the grades are a bloop, the schools that you are applying to might take that into consideration. It really depends on your high school, but a 3.5 is not that bad.

You should consider more than just the Pomonas and Swarthmores, though. LACs are different in their rankings in that all of the top 25 are very close in quality. This might be something to think about when choosing schools.

Indeed. Also for LAC’s, they care much more that you will contribute something to thier student body, so your essays and activities play a huge role.

LACs really cae about the whole package, not just specific numbers. You might have had a few low scores one year but if you have good exam scores (which you do so far) and good essays, you have a chance. Good luck!
