Does not sending subject tests (just sending ACT with Writing) hurt my chances at certain colleges?

I did poorly on a Spanish subject test (630), and don’t want to send that score. Some colleges require either the SAT & 2 subject tests OR the ACT with writing (subject tests optional, however, if you send one subject test score you must send all other subject test scores). For example, Princeton and Yale both recommend subject tests, but do not require them. Since I got one low score, is it okay if I just send my ACT with writing (I scored a 33)? Or is my ACT in itself not sufficient for admittance to some colleges?

Thanks!

I think it depends on what colleges you are applying for. If you are applying for colleges like Yale and Princeton, the majority of the applicants applying there would have taken at least two subject tests. In other words, even though those schools don’t explicitly require subject tests, it still puts you at a disadvantage if you don’t have them.

Your ACT score is very competitive, and I think you will be fine even without subject tests. However, I still recommend taking at least one just to be safe.
