Does Penn State notice upward grade trends

Gonna keep it simple.
GPA Frehsmen year: 3.3w (2 honors)
GPA Softmore year: 3.6w (2 honors)
GPA Junior year: 4.02w (2 AP’s (4’s on exams) 2 honors)
SAT: 1200
OOS
Major: Atmospheric Sciences

Can someone please tell me if they will notice the trend and I can have a decent chance of getting in?

What is your overall GPA…weighted and unweighted? Penn State cares about one number…the overall GPA at the end of Junior year. That’s it. They don’t really consider trends…

Penn State isn’t that hard to get into. You did great junior year which is the most important. You have a great shot at getting in as long as your extracurriculars are good. The only thing you could possibly do is boast your SAT scores, but it’s not necessary. Like I said, you have a pretty good shot.

Unfortunately that isn’t true. There’s never any guarantee that you will get into UP. We’ve seen kids with a 4.0 who applied after the priority deadline who got rejected simply because the college they were applying to was already full.

Penn State UP isn’t easy to get into…although the branch or commonwealth campuses typically are. PSU receives sooooooo many applications, so it’s really a numbers game. GPA at the end of junior year and your SAT scores. Ideally you should get your SAT score to a minimum of 1250, puts you in the bottom 25th percentile. Luckily GPA is 2/3rd of the decision and your GPA is within the 3.55 to 3.97 range. Hopefully your unweighted GPA isn’t too low.

@Daydreamer01 is incorrect. Penn State barely pays any attention to extra curriculars. They get 60,000+ applications a year. They don’t have the time or ability to consider every kid’s volunteer hours or musical ability etc…
It’s a numbers game at PSU. What is your GPA, weighted and unweighted, OVERALL. Penn State doesn’t care about trends either. They want to know your final number after Junior year. Your SAT is lower than the average as well. Science majors are competitive at PSU. If you can boost your SAT score and your weighted GPA is closer to the top of the middle 50%, that gives you a better shot. Either way, applying DUS with the summer option is likely your best bet.
