Does prestige/rank really matter?

<p>I've been making lot of threads regarding this topic recently but I'm interested in your opinions. Between what types of schools does prestige make a difference. Is there really a huge gap between berkeley and the rest of the top public unis in the country ( likewise ivies and other respectable privates)? Is a mid 20 ranked school really better than a top 50 ranked school? Would it be enough of a gap to make a difference in finding a job?</p>
