does re-applying make me a pest?

Thanks so much for everyone responded to my prev. post.
Another question from a newbie:
IF my kid re-apply to HADES HiddenG schools year after year, will AO look at us as annoying pests?
I understand chances to get in are pretty slim due to very low attrition at these schools.
Thanks

I think it’ll show them your enthusiasm to attend their school.

No not at all! Many people reapply and AOs understand this. There are people who happen to be on CC who reapplied and were accepted this year(one person who I noticed was mentioned a lot was ballerina22). As the above poster stated it would just show your enthusiasm. Some, if not all, schools like to see that even though you didn’t get accepted the first time your still reapplying. Not only does it show enthusiasm, but it shows that you are truly interested in attending.

^Agreed. Makes you seem motivated to attend.

Demonstrating enthusiasm and motivation are only two of countless items involved in an admission profile and subsequent decision.

Before reapplying, I would have an honest conversation with the admission officer/director to get an idea where your student stands in the current applicant pool. Your child’s position in the applicant could have changed from the previous year depending on the quality of the current year’s application.

Admission could be more, or less competitive, than the prior year.

You may, or may not, want to reapply depending on the admission officer’s assessment.

We asked that question to one AO at a HADES school. He told us that although it is not supposed to influence his decision on the C application, he feels that if the C did the whole thing again to him it means they really want to attend and he does look at that favorably.

^ We also had similar conversations.

Our results?
Deny → Deny
Waitlist → Deny
Waitlist → Waitlist
Deny → Waitlist

(We also had acceptances, but not to any of the schools she applied to last year.)

@vanilla, it’s worthwhile considering to apply as a soph or repeat-soph; most schools expand the class size significantly from fr to soph year. But after that, the number if available slots drops off drastically for jr & sr year.
