Does Rice recalculate high school GPA?

In ninth grade, the grading scale was different than it was the other three years. An A was 90-100.

Now, the scale is 93-100 for an A and 85-92 for a B. Teachers teaching honors classes now add three points to our averages (100 becomes a 103) and AP classes get five points added (95 becomes 100).

Do you think Rice will take these points away? My GPA will stay the same, but it obviously looks more impressive when I have a 101 in Honors English than a 98.

Oh yeah. I got a 92 in Spanish I in ninth grade, so it was an A under the old system. Will that change my GPA?

I don't know. I think that Rice is more wholistic than that when evaluating transcripts. But on your application, I think you should use whatever cummulative gpa is figured by your school.

Okie dokie. Thank you!
