Does sending earlier improve chances (not like earlier deadline, just earlier)?

For example, if I had a Nov. 1 deadline, would sending my app on Sep 15 vs Oct 25 affect my chances?

Not really – they read your app when all docs get filed – many of which are not in your control. For instance, you submit by Sep 20th – but your transcript gets to them by Nov 5th. You get read after Nov 5th.

@T26E4 Thank you, but what if your documents are filed earlier as well? Like does when they recieve all/when they read make a difference?

There is no difference, that is why a lot of the time the night of the deadline, websites crash because so many people send it in at the last moment. There is no advantage sending them in earlier; might as well use the time to double check everything.

I attended a college info function last night w/ HYP & UVA – this question came up. The answer was solidly given by one rep and none of the others blinked. No advantage whatsoever. Hope this clears things up.

You may want to investigate how your school choices determine housing preference . Clemson determines theirs by application date, not acceptance date. The earlier you apply, the better your choice in housing. I don’t know if there are any other schools that do this or not, but it may be worth looking into.

@T26E4 Yes, it does! tysm

@anxiousenior1 good point, yeah i pretty much just left myself enough extra days for technical difficulties
@carolinamom2boys that’s good to know.

If the school has a rolling admissions policy, it can make a difference, obviously.

Unless it is rolling admissions it doesn’t matter. Still, it is nice to get the applications completed and out the door.
