I'm interested in taking up archery and horseback riding in college and I'm curious if Smith either offers these activities or if there are facilities nearby for them.
It's not a deal-breaker for me if the activities aren't offered but it would really be a big downfall for me.
Any help is appreciated, thank you!

Smith has both a varsity and club equestrian team. You can also take riding lessons as a class, through the Exercises and Sports Studies Department. However, there’s an additional fee for the riding classes, while there is not for other ESS classes, and you have to provide your own boots and helmet. I know there are a few girls who bring their own horses to Smith, you can make arrangements to board them in the stables. You can find more information about the ESS classes in the course catalog, and about riding at Smith on the Athletics Department webpage.

I don’t know about archery, I never saw that offered when I was a student. But check the ESS course catalog, you never know what gets added from year to year.

I will say that there is a charge for the horseback riding. My daughter, a long time rider, is on hiatus because the cost is just too high. Not actually a big deal, because she finds herself busy with lots of things that she loves to do at Smith that don’t need an additional financial outlay.
