Especially Ivy League applications? I went to Brown during freshman summer and Cornell in sophomore or junior summer.

sorry, but it doesn’t.

why not? does Cornell look okay though?

any summer program that you pay to go to isnt really prestigious, and the admissions officers know that. however, you never know what they will think !

In and of itself I’ve heard the “for pay” college programs don’t help much. But clearly you did something of value in the summer for yourself – and colleges would notice that. I think what would really make it valuable for college admissions is your essay on what you got out of the programs – what you learned, etc.

What about college summer programs where you earn college credit?

earning college credit over the summer could help. I’ve seen the Common App and it has blanks for credit earned during the summer too young to apply to college yet though, so i can’t talk about experience.
