Does taking AP calculus BC in senior year put me at a disadvantage?

A lot of students in my school took AP calculus BC in their junior year and then multivariable calculus in their senior year. This was because they skipped a math grade in the summer or because they got a high score on a placement test in middle school. I am going to take AP calculus BC senior year and am doing computer science major. Will this look bad for colleges like mit?

Taking a course more advanced than 96% of high school graduates does not look bad, no.

I also think you are fine. For MIT I would be generally more concerned about doing very well in math classes, rather than jumping ahead.

However, MIT is a reach for nearly everyone (I met one person when I was there for whom it might have been a safety). It also is a lot of work if you go there. You need to want to do it. There is no easy way to learn an enormous amount, and MIT will help you to learn an enormous amount.

You do you. Don’t worry about anyone else. Most universities for Stem just want you to be ready to do Calc 1 Freshman year. Your fine now go write a great essay… Lol
