Back in the day, after I took the ACT and SAT I started getting all sorts of mailings from various colleges. Not sure exactly how that works. Anyway, just curious if taking the SSAT will put a child on mailing lists of boarding schools that might be interested in him or her.

My son is entering the eighth grade this fall, and boarding school is probably out of the picture, but still interested.

Thanks for any help or comments.

I think if you score well, you get a few solicitations. That’s our experience.

Same here - DS scored very well, and we received a handful of solicitations (less than 5).

We also received a few solicitations after both kids participated in the Academic Talent Search program several years ago.

Interesting. SevenDaughter scored 99% on SSAT (and high honors on CTY SAT the year before) with nary a pip from any school we hadn’t already requested info from. Think it depends on zip, gender, other demos?

Anecdotally, I remember reading on the forum some time ago that both Linden Hall and Hill School reached out to families directly based on scores. And perhaps a few other schools?

Definitely could be demographics - we’re in Colorado, which would probably be under-represented at some (not all) east coast schools.

^ Ha. Could be. We are definitely in flyover country.
