does the applied program matter?

hi,

I am planning to apply to top MBA schools this fall and i was wondering if the chosen program affects ones chances of being accepted. I am willing to do finance or private equity and i guess finance is the most applied program in most of the top schools. So would that worsen my chances of getting admitted? Also is choosing undecided or a less popular program would have any affect? (but then if I apply to an unrelated program i would have much to say in my essays)

when you apply to top b-school, you don’t need to apply to a specific program. Msc Finance isn’t a MBA degree, even though it’s granted by b-schools. Your chance of getting a job in PE is almost zero if you don’t go to H/S/W, even then you need BB/PE experience.
