<p>If my memory serves me, you request an off-campus interview WHEN you turn in your application. So there’s no way you can be expected to complete it BEFORE the application is due.</p>
<p>Also, I wouldn’t be bummed if you don’t hear back about an off-campus interview. If you live in the middle of East Nowhere, where the University of Chicago alumni network is weak or nonexistent, then you might not get a face-to-face interview and that’s not your fault at all. (If anything, perhaps your geographic diversity makes you a more appealing applicant than the off-campus interview write-up would.)</p>
<p>Unalove is right. When the admissions officer visited my school, she said the interview will be scheduled after submitting the application. She also says the time frame for the interview lasts until a few weeks after Nov 1.</p>
