Does the salaries we see includes bonuses, stock bonuses and profit sharing ?

We often see some salary surveys on internet , for example they say an average mechanical engineer earns 80.000k/year.

Are the all bonuses included in that salary ?

And my another question is about “Glassdoor”. For instance, https://www.glassdoor.com/Salary/Novartis-Associate-Director-Salaries-E6667_D_KO9,27.htm on this link, the total compenstation is 186k , but beneath that, there is a section named " additional compenstation".

Do we add that section to the total compenstation and sum all together , or are they already added in the “total compenstation” ?

Normally the term “salary” does not include bonuses, stock options or profit sharing. The salary is the income you can depend on, while everything else is variable from year to year.

Total compensation would include base salary and anything else.

Salary usually means base salary. Bonus is maybe money.

It depends on where you are looking. Government data is usually based on IRS reports which generally include everything. Otherwise, salary is salary, bonuses are bonuses, and no one really wants anyone to know how much anyone actually makes.
