I've tried searching online but haven't gotten firm answers so I was hoping actual students could help. I have taken the ACT without the writing (through my school), and I just took the ACT w/ writing and I'm nervous that I may do worse...also, do they superscore if it is required?

They don’t require the writing portion (I don’t think they’ll even look at it unless your borderline on acceptance or scholarship), and yes, they do superscore.

The composite score that you get from the ACT does not incorporate the writing section. I know this because, on the first day the ACT scores are available online, it says in red something to the effect that this composite score does not include the writing portion and will not be affected by the writing portion.

Confirming also that UM superscores the ACT.

I contacted UM admissions this spring to ask about the SAT writing section and they said they don’t consider it at all.

Just looking at the Miami CDS. It confirms that they do not look at writing on SAT or ACT.
