I noticed that, while I’ve stocked up on extra cirriculars relating to my major, I don’t have any major community service projects. I’ve got:
-Key Club for all years of high school
-125 recorded service hours with the school (but no records of specific activities)
-32 hours of volunteering at a church last summer
This summer, I am babysitting 3 young boys whose mother died at Christmas and whose father, with his sole income, cannot afford child care.Would 280 hours of babysitting this summer show a dedication to community service? Does this count as a strong community service activity?

I am sorry that i cannot answer your question. I would think that it would, but i do not know.

Would tutoring a family member (sister's boyfriend's daughter from a previous relationship) count as community service type activity? My girlfriend is tutoring a girl related to her as previously stated. The girl hardly passed the 3rd grade. Also, if she gets paid, should it count as a job?

From what I've read, community service isn't a college application necessity. It's just another type of EC. Some people have ECs that are community service related, yours are not. Your community service is decent, but I don't think it will matter much. It's actually probably better to have major related ECs over random community service at soup kitchens because you assumed colleges loved to see that kind of stuff.
