Will UCI consider the alternate major I put on my application with no regards to whatever I put as my primary? I am applying under Computer Science & Engineering as my primary major, with Computer Engineering as my alternate. I plan on taking a some classes that are major requirements for Computer Engineering at UCI in the Spring; I just need to know whether or not that effort would be in vain, as I know some schools have restrictions when it comes to alternate majors.
If you meet the UCI transfer requirements for your alternate major, then yes they will consider it.
Thats good to hear. Just to be sure, my alternate major will be evaluated as if I had chosen it as my primary, correct? I know some schools (like UCSD) won’t admit students into an alternate major if it is capped.
This is what the UCI website states:
**Transfer students applying to majors with an asterisk are encouraged to also indicate an alternate major on the UC Application. All majors at UCI are selective and applicants are encouraged to earn the highest possible GPA.
- Computer Engineering, B.S.*
- Computer Science, B.S*
- Computer Science and Engineering, B.S.*
There is no mention that you cannot apply to 2 selective majors as the primary and alternate.
You could always email admissions to confirm.
Thank you, I’ll trust your word on this matter.
