I'm considering attending UCSD in the fall, but I've been looking on their course catalog and don't see any classes relating to exercise physiology, kinesiology, etc... I might want to go to physical therapy school afterwards, so this is a bit concerning. Will I be able to get the classes I need to apply for PT school at UCSD? Current students, do you know of any pre-physical therapy people at UCSD? Thanks!

The pre-req for PT is basically pre-med reqs. Basically, all your lower div science classes. The only concern is that you need anatomy, which UCSD doesnt offer. So you would need to take anatomy elsewhere like at UCSD extension or at a CC. You should be fine in terms of satisfying the pre-req as long as you take that one anatomy class elsewhere.

Other than that tho, I personally don’t know any pre-physical therapy or any classes pertaining to it. I think stuff like kinesiology might be a bit too specialized to be offered as an undergraduate course, but that’s just my opinion.

I def recommend taking anatomy at UCSD extension – they hand out vouchers that cover the cost to a certain amount! It’s great

Here’s the class you are looking for:

“BIPN 108. Physiology of Exercise
Course addresses the human body’s response to exercise, addressing energy metabolism and the effects of both acute and chronic exercise on function in several important organ systems. Designing training regimes and the role of exercise in health will be considered. Prerequisites: BIPN 100 required; BIPN 102 and BIBC 102 recommended.”

It was offered as recently as Winter Quarter 2013.
